Meet Zest — the app that remembers every Oakland spot you’ve eaten at

Zest is a new dining app from Oakland-based founder, and Oaktown reader, Mario.

Here’s how it works: The app saves every restaurant, bar, and cafe you visit automatically.

All you have to do is securely link a card and it pulls your dining history automatically.

Which I’ll admit, I was hesitant at first. But the connection is through Plaid (AKA the same tool your bank or budgeting app uses), and Zest only sees food/dining purchases, no amounts and no other transactions.

After that, you get a map of every restaurant, cafe, bakery, and bar you’ve recently visited. And… it’s very cool.

Here’s mine:

Plus, it creates a personal restaurant breakdown showing you the number of visits and your favorite categories. (Turns out, my family loves Violetta.)

Zest is free to join and once you’re in be sure to follow @OaktownWeekly!
