OUSD Teachers rally for better pay — Hundreds of teachers demonstrated Wednesday advocating for a 14% pay increase and better working conditions. This comes amidst OUSD’s $50M budget deficit and a recent SF teacher strike.

The Mayor’s SUV was stolen — and then recovered hours later Tuesday. The city-issued mayoral SUV has been the target of break-ins and vandalism before. The current ride was (sorta) purchased by former Mayor Thao.

The rise and fall of Bay Area Street Cars — Even Oakland had one. KQED explores the history of street cars across the Bay, and why we don’t see them today. Hint: It’s parked in your driveway.

Oakland is getting MORE bike lanes — Expansion of Oakland’s East Bay Greenway is set to break ground later this year. The new greenway will make biking from Lake Merritt to Fruitvale safer.
