Sign to save BART? — Organizers began gathering signatures last Friday for a proposed 14-year half-cent sales tax in Alameda county with funds going towards local transit like, the big B.A.R.T.
Richmond has $550M to spend — And the city council is shelling out $300k to an agency who will help them gather community feedback on HOW to spend it. Where’d the cash come from? Richmond’s settlement with Chevron.
“ICE-free zones” coming to Alameda — The county Board of Supervisors unanimously approved new rules to bar ICE agents from Alameda County property including parking lots, garages, and county buildings.
Winky Dinky dogs opens in Temescal — The new hot dog stand founded by a former member of Digital Underground, Tyranny Allen, takes over the triangular Kasper’s Hot Dog location in Temescal which closed in 2003.
One OPD officer made $490K in overtime — Oaklandside details the runaway overtime pay for Oakland police officers, which totaled $55M just last year.
